House's of Parliament Trip

17/01/2024

We took your elected School Councillors to visit the Houses of Parliament in London last week. They were shown around the Palace by their guide, George, who explained lots about the history of the castle and the past and present members of parliament. They also got to enter through the King's own private entrance. We, unfortunately, weren't allowed to take any photos of this or any areas inside Parliament except in Westminster Hall.

We thought this would be a great way to kick start our Councillor's journey so they understand what their role is about. Whilst there, they also took part in a workshop where, through role play, they learnt the process of how laws are brought to them and passed or denied. The children chose to banish homework, and so they went through the process (which took a loooooong time)and eventually, it was passed! They children then enjoyed food at Pizza Express then some sight seeing, including Buckingham Palace! It was a very long day but all the children were amazingly well behaved and made us so proud!
