Christmas in Reception 2025!
We have had such a festive time in Reception over the last few weeks. We had met Santa, enjoyed Christmas crafts, Christmas jumper day with our Christmas dinner, had a visit from Eddie the Elf every day and had a blast at our Christmas party! It is now time to go and enjoy the festive season at home with our families and friends. Merry Christmas everyone!
Eddie the Elf
Santa sent Eddie the Elf to spend December with us! He was a lovely Elf but got up to some mischief at times!
Reception's Performance of 'The Nativity' 2025
Well done to our amazing Reception class on their incredible performance of The Nativity! We are all so proud of you!
Lotherton Hall Christmas Experience
We were so lucky to go to The Christmas Experience at Lotherton Hall! We had a walked through the festive woodland, visited Wildlife World and went to the Elf Village to do some Christmas Crafts! We had such an amazing afternoon!
Advent in Reception
We have been busy learning all about Advent. Advent is the time when we are preparing for Christmas. It is a time of waiting and hope. We gathered greenery to make our Advent Wreath and learnt what each candle means. We led a whole school all about the start of Advent and specifially the first candle of 'Hope'.
Remembrance Day 2025
We have learnt all about Remembrance Day and why it is such an important day. We all decorated our own poppies which have gone up on a whole school display. We have heard stories linked to Remembrance Day, joined in whole school and Key Stage worships remembering all the soldiers that bravely fought for our country and lots of us have donated and bought poppies too.
Balance Bike Training
Today, we had a visitor in school to do some balance bike training with us! We all pracitsed using the bikes safely and practised manourvering around different obstacles at different speeds. We had lots of fun!
Bonfire Night
This week, we have been learning all about Bonfire Night. We heard the story of Guy Fawkes and why we celebrate Bonfire Night. We learnt how to be safe at a bonfire and when watching fireworks. We did our own super firework pictures too! Some of us were exploring in the woodland area and Miss Richardson came down to do her very own mini 'bonfire' with Nursery! They toasted some marshmallows and some of us were lucky enough to join in!
Creation- God made each one of us
As part of our RE topic this half term, we all decorated our own hand prints and added them to our class display, joined together, to show we are one big family; all made by God, with love.
Black History Month 2025
For Black History Month this year, we celebrated Black Excellence in the Arts by creating art work inspired by Alma Thomas. Alma is known for using water colour paint for her work so we used water colours to create abstract paintings. We loved making our paintings and they are now proudly diplayed in our classroom and in the whole school Black History Month book.
Maths- Big and Small
In Maths this week, we have been sorting 'big' and 'small'. We gave the big bear and the small bear the items that matched their size.
Phonics in Reception
We have started Phonics in Reception and have already learnt lots of new sounds! Have a look at what we have been up to!
Creation
Our RE topic this half term in Creation and Convenant. To start our topic we had a walk around our school grounds to look for all the amazing things that God made. We looked for lots of things that made us say "wow!". We worked with a partner to draw everything that we saw then coloured them in when we got back to the classroom. We spotted lots of beautiful trees and plants, apples, grass, clouds and the Sun even popped out to say hello. We wanted to see some animals but only managed to see a couple of birds flying in the sky.
September in Reception
