Welcome to Year 2's Class Page!

Party Time! 18.12.25

We had a wonderful time at our Year Two Christmas party! Everyone came to school dressed in their best clothes, ready to celebrate. We played lots of fun and exciting games, enjoyed some delicious party food and treats, and loved spending time with our friends. It was such a special way to end our term!

A Very Special Visit 09.12.25

We had a very special visit from Santa this week! He listened carefully to what we want for Christmas and talked to us about all the wonderful things we have been learning at school. He even gave us an early present which made us all so excited!

Rugby 01.12.25

This half term, we have started rugby lessons in P.E. with Timasse and we are loving it! We are learning important skills like passing, throwing, dodging and working together as a team. We play lots of different games where we have to cooperate with our friends to make sure we do things correctly or to help our team win. It’s been so much fun learning new skills and playing together!

Preparing for Advent

This week in Year Two, we have been busy preparing for Jesus as we get ready for Advent. We collected evergreen leaves from the school grounds to make our Advent wreath, learning that evergreen leaves are used because God’s love never dies. We also updated our table with a new purple cloth to show that we are in the Advent season of the church calendar. While making our wreath, we learned what each candle on it represents.

Florence Nightingale 26.11.25

Today, we worked together to order the events in Florence Nightingale's life. We learned what 'chronological order' means and thought carefully about what happened at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of Florence's life. We used all of the knowledge that we have learned in History over the last few weeks to help us put the events in the correct order.

Micro-habitats 11.11.25

This afternoon, we were busy exploring our school grounds. We worked together to discover as many micro-habitats as we could. We found lots of different minibeasts hiding in the different areas.

Tropical World 23.10.25

Today, we enjoyed a trip to Tropical World to learn more about our science topic - 'Living Things and Their Habitats'. In the morning, we took part in a habitats workshop. During the workshop, we learned about the different types of habitats found around the world and how animals are adapted and suited to live in their own habitats. We discussed how animals use their features to help them survive, such as how they find food and stay safe. We also learned about how we can take care of our world and protect different habitats by not dropping litter, walking instead of using a car when possible and turning lights off when they are not needed.

In the afternoon, we explored Tropical World and observed many different types of animals living in a range of habitats. We carefully looked at how the animals lived and linked what we saw to what we had learned earlier in the day.

The Holy Rosary 16.10.25

October is the month of the Holy Rosary. This week, we spent some time learning why the Holy Rosary is special and important in our faith. We talked about the different prayers that make up the Rosary and the meaning of the beads. We then used our rosary beads to pray the Holy Rosary together, carefully following each prayer.

Can I add by making 10? 08.10.25

Today, we recognised that it can be quicker to add two numbers together by making 10 first. We used our tens frames and counters to create two numbers. We started by moving some of the counters to make 10 and we then counted how many we had left. We then wrote our calculations on our whiteboards.

Leeds Diving School 30.09.25

Today, we had a very special visit from Leeds Diving School. They helped us to develop our stretching techniques, posture, balance and movement skills. We particularly enjoyed learning how to do a forward roll safely. It was so much fun learning new ways to move our bodies and seeing how professional divers train everyday.

Planting Bulbs 09.09.25

In our Science lesson today, we learned all about bulbs. We started by discussing what a bulb is and how we plant a bulb. We then went into the garden and planted our own daffodil bulbs. We are going to observe our bulbs throughout the year and record the changes as they grow into daffodils. We can't wait to watch them grow!

The Bible 04.09.25

Today, we had our first R.E lesson of the year and we were looking closely at the Bible. We recognised that the Bible has two parts - the Old Testament and the New Testament. We know that the New Testament starts with the Annunciation. We spent some time looking through the Bible, identifying the Old testament and New testament and seeing which stories we could identify in each section.
