The main Coronavirus symptoms are:

  • Fever
  • A new consistent cough
  • A sudden loss or change in your sense of taste or smell

Whilst these are the main Coronavirus symptoms, there are other signs that
Coronavirus can be present.  Click here for more information

If your child begins to show symptoms associated with Coronavirus, the school will contact you and arrange for them to be picked up as soon as possible.  Your child should then take a Coronavirus PCR test.  The school will need to see proof of a negative Coronavirus PCR test before allowing your child re-entry to the school.  If no proof of a negative test is provided then the school may refuse your child entry until an isolation period has been completed according to current government guidelines.

Testing
From 1st March 2021 if you are a member of a household, support bubble or childcare bubble of staff or a pupil of a school you are eligible to twice weekly COVID-19 testing by:

  • Ordering a home testing kit online
  • Collecting a home testing kit from a local testing site
Click the following link to find your nearest local testing site: Find your nearest local COVID-19 testing site

Click the following link to find your nearest collection point for rapid flow tests.  You can collect 2 packs of testing kits, each containing 7 tests.  Anyone over the age of 18 can collect the tests: Find your nearest Rapid Flow Test Collection Point

Click the following link for help with ordering home testing kits online.  Please try to get tested through other methods first to allow delivery of home testing kits to those who need it most: Order COVID-19 home testing kits

Twice weekly testing involves taking 2 tests every week (either 3 or 4 days apart) and reporting all results to NHS Test and Trace on the day of the test or by calling 119.

If anybody tests positive or develops Coronavirus symptoms you must:
  • Contact the school immediately
  • Isolate immediately
  • Get a PCR test to confirm
  • Follow the stay at home guidance

Even if a rapid flow test returns a negative test result it is still important to follow all the guidance including:
  • Washing hands regularly
  • Wearing a face covering when recommended
  • Social distancing where possible
